It can be difficult to stay motivated all the time, especially when many of us are in an office environment.
It’s very easy to get distracted. It doesn’t happen often, especially for driven people like myself, but I can end up becoming lazy.
Obviously we don’t want to push ourselves to a point of burn-out.
But when it comes down to it, work has to get done, and sometimes we just don’t feel inspired. I rely on myself to stay motivated. Otherwise, I can fall behind the demands of the day.
Being in a sales role, such as a Realtor or Loan Officer, you must maintain high levels of motivation. Days will pass you by if you are not focused, motivated and working on the right activities and relationships. Such drive translates to success and spreads to the people with whom you do business.
A creative way to stay motivated is to have things around you to inspire you. Sometimes it can be people, stories from books or blogs, or like me, posters or pictures on your wall. I believe that function follows form. So if you can change your environment to affect your subconscious, then your emotions and actions can follow more easily.
Consider things you can change to make motivation more natural:
- Buy a subscription to Success magazine and leave them around your work area to pick up
- Keep your Kindle full of the latest books on sales and success
- Keep a notebook of quotes that make you think
- Create a personal scorecard and make yourself connect with three new people a day. Write down your score each day
- Watch a TED talk and share it out with your thoughts with your friends
If you think about little ways to make it easy to engage motivating content, then it starts to change you. You learn to rely on yourself to maintain your motivation. Over time, you grow and get results.
